Affordable Maternity Clothes

While it's true that maternity wear can be expensive, there are plenty of affordable maternity clothes available as well. The trick is knowing where and how to shop. Unless you're rich and famous, you probably don't want to spend a fortune on your pregnancy clothes because you'll only be wearing them until your baby arrives and maybe a short time thereafter. Luckily you can find stylish clothes for both you and your baby that are reasonable in price. The first way to locate low priced maternity wear is to look for sales and clearance offers.

Many maternity boutiques do have semi-annual sales where merchandise is marked down. However, even sale items at trendy boutiques can be expensive. You may want to try shopping at discount department stores like K-Mart, Wal-Mart or Target. They have a decent selection of maternity clothes for petites, misses, plus sizes and tall sizes. These stores also often have sales where they mark down the already affordable merchandise. Even stores like J.C. Penney, Kohls, Belk and Bloomingdales may have decent sales throughout the year where you can pick up affordable pregnancy wear.

One strategy you may want to try is to buy a few key pieces from department stores, then get some other items from secondhand stores and thrift stores. These stores are a great source of rock bottom bargains. You may want to start your search at your local Salvation Army or Goodwill store. These stores sell donated items and the money goes to charity. So not only are you saving money for yourself you are helping a worthy cause. You may also want to check some consignment shops. Consignment shops are also a great place to sell clothes you don't want anymore, if you are willing to let them go for a bargain.

There are even more ways to find affordable maternity clothes. For example, you can take hand me downs from friends and family who have kids. You can also try shopping on Ebay. There are all kinds of new and used maternity clothes on Ebay that can be acquired for a lot less than they're worth. Ebay is the largest online auction site and you can find some serious bargains there. Finally, you might also want to try wearing items already in your closet that stretch or are large and roomy, at least until your baby bump grows larger.
